About Tim . . .

tim-and-kimTim was born in Atlanta, Georgia, and has been a follower of Jesus since childhood.  With a Southern Baptist pastor for a father and a godly mother, he was involved in the life and ministry of the church from the time of birth.  Sensing a call to vocational ministry as a teenager, but having a paralyzing fear of public speaking, Tim ran from that “call” for several years.  After graduating from UNC-Charlotte in 1977 at age 19, the Lord directed Tim to a job in Public Relations, which involved being mentored and coached in . . . you guessed it . . . public speaking! With a little more comfort in that area, Tim finally surrendered to that calling, entered Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary in Wake Forest, NC, and completed his M.Div. in 1983. Going back to 1979 all the way to the present, ministry experience has been varied – youth pastor, associate pastor, IMB missionary church planter, IMB church planting/growth strategist, mega-church education staff, and lead pastor. This journey has led from Georgia to Virginia to South Carolina to Germany (almost 11 years) to Georgia to Florida to Georgia (13 years) and now back to South Carolina. Serving the Lord is certainly not boring!

Since 1980, Tim has been married to the former Kim Davis of Kannapolis, N.C.  Tim exclaims that Kim is a gift of God to him and is committed to Jesus Christ, her family, the ministry, missions, the study and teaching of

Pastor Tim’s hobbies/passions are varied – “just hanging out” with people, most sports, sports memorabilia, antique and vintage toys, music, language study, “good” coffee, and foods!  Odd as it may sound, ministry itself is his biggest passion.  Tim says, “God removed me from one of the most beloved ministries in my life in Athens, GA and made it abundantly clear that Monaghan was where I needed to be. This was such a dramatic and clear calling that I just know God is going to lead us to experience His power and presence in unimaginable ways!  Get ready!”
